Senior Cyber Security Specialist

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join my client’s reinvigorated Cyber Security team as we begin to implement the next phase of our multi-layered cyber defence environment in my client’s institution of higher education. As the Senior Cyber Security Specialist you will be responsible for the day to day supervision, operation and support of key security systems and services that underpin the protection of my client’s digital services, infrastructure, data and users.

As the Senior Cyber Security Specialist, you will use your extensive expertise to help maintain and secure our environment. You will contribute to the day to day management of Information and Cyber Security operations. Working closely with IT teams to secure the technology, develop/update security standards & policies to safeguard our digital services, ensuring they are secure and fit for purpose enabling the University to deliver its strategy.

The Person

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Cyber Security systems and services to ensure University IT assets and systems are secure and compliant (physical, user and data). The role will ensure the management, maintenance and support of core threat protection tools and associated infrastructure to mitigate risk and protect against security vulnerabilities, whilst maintaining compliance. Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager, you will supervise the day-to-day business as usual workload of the Cyber Security Specialist and two and two Cyber Security Analysts.

You will bring to the role extensive, relevant knowledge and experience of IT best practice including proven experience of managing enterprise security platforms, highly developed IT security management and in-depth technical skills. You should have the ability to asses information systems processes, IT services, system threats and solve logical problems, with experience of network and system issues. You will bring knowledge of systems, endpoints and end user security, compliance standards and techniques.
