PCB and Embedded Software Engineer

Company:

 

A growing designer and manufacturer of locking and access control systems is looking to recruit a PCB and Embedded Developer, you will be working in the Engineering department in the client office. You will support the company as they embark on a new stage of R&D to enhance and grow their current product range.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Follow the entire electronic development lifecycle from initial concept to final product and testing.
  • Have excellent diagnostic abilities.
  • Carry out R&D projects on emergent technologies involving Bluetooth and Wireless integrated systems.
  • Create and manage electronic hardware and software documentation.
  • Work closely with the Mechanical Engineering team.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • Embedded Software development.
  • Produce PCB designs that consider thermal and EMC implications
  • Strong all-round electronic design and software/firmware skills.
  • Able to control various types of motors.
  • Experience with USB and Serial communication
  • Schematic and PCB layout experience.
  • Fault finding at component level.
  • Real time debugging of firmware.
  • Prototyping skills
  • At least 3 years’ hardware and embedded software design experience within a relevant industry
  • Measurement techniques of the following: – temperature, water level sensing, voltage, current.
  • Experience with low power and sleep functions.
  • BLE, IOT, WiFi and RFID development.
  • Degree in Electronic engineering or similar subject.

Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

Company:

 

A growing designer and manufacturer of locking and access control systems is looking to recruit highly motivated, passionate and focused Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the design team. The Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will answer to the Product Development Manager.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and develop new products and product improvements, balancing innovative engineering design, functional requirements and aesthetic appeal with quality requirements, cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture, installation and maintainability.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing drawings.
  • Build and refine prototypes.
  • Work in compliance with the company’s engineering design rules and the product development process.
  • Ensure that development work adheres to the requirements of design specifications and other supporting documentation.
  • Play an active role in projects, team meetings etc. Liaise with other cross- functional team members, suppliers, customers and other interested parties throughout projects.
  • Participate in design reviews, communicate ideas and solutions, influence decisions and problem solving.
  • Validate and document, design solutions ensuring they are robust and reliable by using relevant tools and techniques such as computerised modelling, prototyping, life testing, load testing etc. Evaluate outcomes and act as required.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technical files as new products are designed, or existing products are changed.
  • Knowledge/Experience with CE and UKCA approval.
  • Provide technical support to other areas of the business when required.
  • Assist the commercial team in creating quotations for potential new projects.
  • Provide regular reports to senior members of staff on project progress.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • At least 3 years’ access control industry experience in electro-mechanical design, or at least 5 years’ industry experience in electro-mechanical design.
  • Proficient and experienced in the use of modern CAD software (Preferably Autodesk Inventor)
  • Knowledgeable in modern general design standards
  • Proficient at researching materials and processes.
  • Proficient in the use of day-to-day software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook.
  • Ability to work as part of a mixed-discipline team.
  • Ideally working knowledge and experience of Autodesk Inventor and Experience of working within an ISO9001 environment.
  • High level of tenacity, ability to adapt and attention to detail

Product Development Manager

My client is looking for a Product Development Manager who would be central to the company’s strategic growth plans and as such, a successful applicant will find themselves as a key member of the company’s commercial and operational efforts moving forward.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a first-class design and development team in line with company’s strategic goals in both capability and capacity.
  • Oversee and contribute to the design and development of innovative mechanical and electronic locking systems and solutions from conception to launch.
  • Represent the Design Team and effort throughout the business via operational departmental liaison and participation in the company’s regular operational and strategy meetings.

 

 

Key Personal Competencies

 

  • First-class project, process and people management skills and experience.
  • Possess experience of management level design and development positions (includes supervisory and principal/lead designer roles)
  • Possess deep knowledge and experience of electronic locking and access control technology.
  • Have considerable experience in hands on design of electronic locking and control products including competent professional use of Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD packages.

 

You will report directly to the Head of Product and form part of the company’s Senior Management Team
